Phylogenetic analysis of Luciobarbus Heckel, 1843 and Barbus Cuvier & Cloquet, 1816 species in the Euphrates River (Turkey) based on mtDNA COI gene sequences

Natural fish species living in the Euphrates River System; It is subject to some pressures such as overfishing, competition with invasive and habitat loss. As a result of these pressures, it leads decrease endemic native species. At beginning are belonging Barbus Cuvier & Cloquet, 1816 Luciobarbus Heckel, 1843 genera, which have high economic importance. In this study, phylogenetic analysis genus 1843, live naturally River, was carried out mtDNA COI gene sequences. 17 samples five from three localities river system (Turkey) were studied. Total DNA extraction performed muscle tissue using Commercial Kit. Then region amplified by PCR sequenced. Genetic distance values calculated between 0.00201 0.15332, determined that closest L. xanthopterus esocinus, most distant B. lacerta A. grypus. addition, analyzes target made an tree formed distinguished. future studies, recommended evaluate data determine genetic characteristics populations, carry conservation studies at population level.
